The TCU women's tennis team fell 4-3 to Texas Tech Friday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

The No. 25 Horned Frogs fell to 6-2 in Big 12 play and 17-4 for the season with the loss.  

"I think we lost a match that we should have won," head coach Dave Borelli said. " I don't know how we lost to be honest with you. We should have won 4-3 and not lost 4-3"

The Lady Raiders took an early lead by winning the point in doubles. TCU's duo of Olivia Smith and Stefanie Tan fell 8-2 to No. 15 Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo at No. 1. Gabi Barbosa and Kelsey Sundaram were defeated 8-2 by Nikki Sanders and Rashmi Teltumbde at No. 2 singles.  

Caroline Starck and Elizabeth Ullathorne of Texas Tech picked up the doubles point with a tiebreaker win over Millie Nichols and Monika Sirilova, 6-5, 7-3.

With singles going their way, Texas Tech took a 2-0 lead at No. 5 as Sanders defeated Nichols 6-2, 6-2.

Horned Frog's Sundaram was able to get TCU on the board with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Starck at No. 6 singles, followed by No. 100 Smith's 7-6, 6-2 win over Kilgo to tie the game score 2-2.

TCU's Simona Parajova lost the first set against Teltumbde 6-3 but came back to win the second set 6-0. Teltumbde pulled a 6-4 win in the third set giving Tech a 3-2 lead.

No. 93 Adams clinched the match for the Lady Raiders with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over No. 45 Stefanie Tan at No. 1 singles.

The match continued at No. 4 with a late 4-6, 7-6, 1-0  win from TCU's Sirilova to close out the game at 4-3.

The loss dropped TCU to third in Big 12 standings.

The Horned Frogs will close its regular season schedule on Sunday when they host Texas at 12 p.m. at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
