The TCU men's golf team's postseason play begins Monday as the squad travels to Hutchinson, Kan., for its inaugural appearance in the Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship.

Competition extends through Wednesday at Prairie Dunes Country Club, the location for the championships for the eleventh time. The course is a par-70 measuring 6,759 yards. 

The Frogs are the No. 2 seed and are paired with No. 1 Texas and No. 3 Oklahoma State to open the tournament on Monday.

The team champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Championships later in May.

TCU’s five-man lineup will consist of sophomore Julien Brun, seniors Pontus Gad, Daniel Jennevret and Eli Cole and sophomore Sarosh Adi. Freshman Paul Barjon, a regular in the lineup, will sit out recovering from an injury.

The Frogs are the No. 6 ranked team nationally and should be a strong challenger in their first Big 12 Championship appearance. Other top challengers include No. 3 Texas, No. 14 Oklahoma State, No. 30 Oklahoma, No. 36 Texas Tech and No. 43 Baylor.

Brun, who was named a semifinalist for the Ben Hogan Award presented to the top collegiate golfers last week, leads TCU as the No. 4 individual collegiate golfer. Other top-ranked Frogs include No. 65 Gad, No. 80 Jennevret and No. 81 Cole.

TCU looks to add the tenth conference championship in golf program history this week and its first since winning the Mountain West title in 2009.

Head coach Bill Montigel said the squad is approaching the tournament like every other one. "Go there, make good decisions and do the best they can," he said.
