TCU head football coach Gary Patterson joined Twitter and his account has been verified by TCU's athletic department.

His official Twitter handle, @TCUCoachP, was created Thursday, April 25. TCU sports information director Mark Cohen and the official TCU football Twitter account confirmed the account’s authenticity.

His first tweet was about the upcoming NFL draft.

Patterson tweeted: “To the TCU NFL Hopefuls…GOOD LUCK! #DontBackDown #GoFrogs #FTF”

Patterson is the ninth Big 12 conference coach to join the social media site. Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads remains as the only Big 12 coach without a Twitter account.

In the first hour of his account’s creation, Patterson gained more than 500 followers. As of now, he follows two accounts. One account is the official TCU football account and the other belongs to his wife, Kelsey Patterson.
