The TCU Horned Frogs will venture into Big 10 territory in 2014 and 2015, as TCU's athletics department has scheduled a football home-and-home series with the University of Minnesota.
TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte said in a press release that the scheduling change helps to fit a "philosophy of playing a national schedule."
The move is the second Big 10 non-conference home-and-home series announced by TCU in the past year. In October, TCU athletics announced 2018 and 2019 matchups against Ohio State. TCU also has a home-and-home matchup set against Arkansas for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
The Frogs will play the Golden Gophers in Fort Worth on Sept. 13, 2014 and go on the road the next year, playing at Minnesota on Sept. 3, 2015.
TCU and Minnesota had had only one previous match in football program history. In 1974, the Golden Gophers secured a 9-7 win on their home turf in Minneapolis.
The matchup will be the first regular season meetup against a Big 10 team for TCU since 2004, when the Frogs opened the season with a 48-45 double overtime victory.
TCU has faced the Big 10 twice since in bowl games. TCU defeated Wisconsin 21-19 in the 2011 Rose Bowl and lost to Michigan State 17-16 in the 2013 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.
