University of Pittsburgh guard Trey Zeigler to transfer to TCU

Pittsburgh guard Trey Zeigler is transferring to TCU, according to Pittsburgh's media relations director.

Greg Hotchkiss, the director of media relations at Pittsburgh, said Zeigler is "definitely" transferring from Pitt and said TCU has been in continual contact with him about Zeigler's transfer process.

TCU media relations spokesperson Andy Anderson declined to comment on the matter, and said he could not comment on the situation until Zeigler has official paperwork submitted. Anderson said he did not know where Zeigler was in completing his paperwork.

Zeigler, a junior wing player, averaged 4.4 points and two rebounds with the Panthers last season. Previously, he played at Central Michigan, where he averaged 16 points per game over the course of his sophomore and freshman seasons.

Zeigler transferred to Pitt after his father, Ernie Zeigler, was fired as Central Michigan’s head basketball coach.

Zeigler will sit out one year at TCU, as per NCAA transfer rules. He will have one year of eligibility with the Horned Frogs, as he received a waiver from the NCAA to play immediately at Pitt.

Zeigler was a four-star recruit out of high school, playing basketball at Mt. Pleasant High School.
