The Coyote Drive-In Theatre officially opened its doors to the public on May 10, offering the city of Fort Worth and TCU students a new take on a vintage way to watch movies.

After two years of planning and construction, the Coyote Drive-In debuts as the first drive-in theatre to grace Fort Worth in nearly 30 years since its predecessor, The Cowtown Drive-In, closed in the mid 1980’s.

Located five miles from TCU, the theatre is near the Fort Worth Stockyards and shows double feature movies every night of the week on their three screens, starting at sunset. Live music is played before the movies and food and drinks are available at the Coyote Canteen.

Movies playing this week include "Epic," "Iron Man 3," "Fast and Furious 6," "Star Trek Into Darkness," "The Hangover Part III" and "The Great Gatsby."

TCU students shared positive feedback from the new theatre.

After spending the evening at the Coyote Drive-In, senior finance major, Joseph Keliher said, “I would definitely come back. The atmosphere is really relaxed and it’s just an all around good time.”

“I’ve always wanted to see a movie at a drive-in theatre, and the fact that it’s so close to campus makes it that much better,” Stacy Sanderson, a senior environmental science major, said.

The partners and managers of the Coyote Drive-In were unavailable for immediate comment at this time.

Tickets are available online or at the door with prices of $8 for adults and $6 for children ages 3-6.
