Four TCU Horned Frogs earned All-Big 12 preseason selections, including Devonte Fields, who was named the Big 12 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

Cornerback Jason Verrett, kicker Jaden Oberkrom and quarterback Casey Pachall were the other Horned Frogs selected to the preseason honor list.

Fields, a sophomore, was the only player on the ballot to be unanimously selected by conference media members. The 2012 AP Defensive Player of the Year registered 18.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks in his college debut. He is on national watch lists for the Bednarik, Bronko Nagurski, and Rotary Lombardi awards.

Verrett, a senior, set a record for TCU cornerbacks in the Gary Patterson era by completing 63 tackles in 2012. He also led the Big 12 in interceptions and passes defended.

Verrett is on watch lists for the Jim Thorpe, Bednarik, and Bronko Nagurski awards, as well as the Lott IMPACT trophy. He was selected as TCU's Dan Rogers MVP by his teammates in 2012.

Oberkrom, a sophomore, was a perfect 42-42 on extra point attempts and 22 out of 30 field goal attempts. Oberkrom hit on 10-of-13 field goal attempts beyond 40 yards and hit six out of six field goals against Texas Tech in October. He is on a national watchlist for the Lou Groza award, which is given to college football's best kicker. 

Pachall, who has still yet to be formally selected as the starting quarterback for the team, starts off a comeback attempt as the All-Big 12 preseason quarterback. The 6'4" gunslinger has played one Big 12 game in his career, in which he threw for 335 yards and two touchdowns against Kansas in September 2012.

Pachall threw for 948 yards and 10 touchdowns in four games with TCU before withdrawing from the university in October and missing the final nine games of the season. He is on national watch lists for the Maxwell and O'Brien trophies.
