Casey Pachall was pulled in favor of Trevone Boykin in the second half of the Cowboys Classic as TCU lost 37-27 to LSU.
Pachall was benched after throwing an interception on his first pass attempt of the second half. LSU capitalized on the turnover quickly, with running back Terrence Magee taking the ball 54 yards on the ground for a touchdown on the third play of the ensuing drive, giving the Tigers a 23-10 lead.
Boykin led the Frogs onto the field on the following drive. That possession resulted in a touchdown when running back B.J. Catalon scored from 26 yards out on an end-around run to make the score 23-17.
Magee scored his second touchdown of the quarter to make it 30-17. LSU ran for 200 yards as a team, and the Tigers’ pounding rushing attack wore down the Horned Frogs and allowed them to run the clock out.
A five-yard touchdown run by Waymon James and a 39-yard field goal by Jaden Oberkrom made the score 30-27, but a 20-yard touchdown reception by LSU wide receiver Jarvis Landry put the game away for the Tigers in the fourth quarter to make the score 37-27.
