The TCU women’s soccer team returns home, looking to right the ship against Arkansas Sunday.
After a strong 2-1-1 start to the season the Horned Frogs have fallen on hard times recently, dropping their last three contests, including Thursday night’s loss at the hands of cross-town rival SMU.
Arkansas is off to a blistering start this season; a 7-0 score propelled the Razorbacks to a win over Utah State Friday night.
The 25th-ranked Razorbacks, TCU’s former Southwest Conference rival, have made competition difficult for opposing offenses this season, recording clean sheets in four of their seven contests.
Arkansas' goaltender, freshman Cameron Carter, has been brilliant so far this year, allowing only five goals through seven games. The game is a homecoming of sorts for Carter who hails from Waco, Texas.
For the Frogs, this is the second time this season they will be squaring off against a ranked SEC opponent. TCU played then 25th ranked LSU to 0-0 scoreless tie in Baton Rouge on August 30.
During TCU’s recent three-game skid, the Frogs have allowed two goals in each contest while scoring only once. Their last two losses, against North Texas and at SMU, have both been by a score of 2-0.
The Frogs will look to two of their young standouts, sophomore Mackenzie Koch and freshman Michelle Prokof, to get the offense back on track. Koch leads TCU in goals this season with three and Prokof, who started the season by scoring in the first two games of the year, leads the Frogs in shots with 12.
The game kicks off at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium and will be aired on Fox Sports Southwest.
