Conference play begins Friday when the TCU women’s soccer team travels to Austin to take on the University of Texas Longhorns.

The match will feature hot two teams, as both are riding momentum from last weekend’s successful slate of matches.

Much of TCU’s recent success can be attributed to the play of its star freshman forward Michelle Prokof.

Prokof scored all four Horned Frog goals last weekend, including her first career hat trick in TCU’s 3-0 victory over the Central Arkansas Bears. It was also the first hat trick by a Frog since 2009.

TCU head coach Eric Bell said despite a stretch of tough games, the team is prepared and has been continually improving this season.

“Going into Big 12 conference play, I think we are in a pretty good spot from a confidence standpoint with the way we want to play and the way we want to defend,” Bell said. “Everybody is on the same page at the moment. It’s good.”

Bell said he likes the way his team matches up with the competition in the Big 12 and TCU will find success by doing the “little things.”

Texas comes into the game having defeated its past two opponents, Texas State and UTSA, 3-0.

Texas has been the aggressor in most of their games this season, outshooting opponents 169-79.

The Longhorns and the Frogs both have two mutual non-conference opponents this season in Illinois State and Air Force. The Frogs defeated Air Force and lost to Illinois State, while the Longhorns emerged victorious in both matches.

UT has played well at home this season, posting a record of 5-0-1.

TCU finished last season with a win against Texas, defeating the Longhorns 1-0 in last year’s regular season match at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium. The Frogs tied Texas 0-0 in the Big 12 conference tournament.

The game kicks off at 7 p.m. at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
