TCU men’s golf will be participating in at least 10 multi-day tournaments during the 2013-2014 season, and none of those will be held at a TCU home course.

Not a single event on the team's schedule will take place in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In fact, only one tournament, the Big 12 Championship in Trinity, Texas, is actually in the state. Most matches take place out of state but, surprisingly enough, such a scenario is fairly common for the team.

“We try to go around the nation and give our men an opportunity to play courses all throughout the US,” said head coach Bill Montigel. “The opportunity to travel has really been the selling point for us during the recruitment process.”

It has been several years since the team has played in an event in the immediate area. The last time the team played in an invitational at one of TCU's home courses was two years ago, just down the street at the renowned Colonial Country Club, a normal stop on the PGA Tour each season. However, the lack of tournaments close to home has not kept the team from being competitive over the years.

“The majority of the players on our team play all over the nation during the summer, so they are used to playing courses that they aren’t necessarily familiar with on a regular basis,” Montigel said. “Each tournament, you get to play on different types of grass, bunkers, and greens. It just makes for a really fun experience.”

As members of the TCU men's golf team embark on their season-long road trip, they will travel to a total of six time zones, playing in events from Windermere, Florida to Kona, Hawaii.

The season will also include stops at well-known courses such as Crooked Stick in Carmel, Indiana and the Classic Club in Palm Desert, California, both of which have hosted PGA Tour events in recent years.
