TCU lost to No. 14 Texas Tech 2-0 Friday night in Lubbock, bringing the Frogs to 4-6-2 overall and 0-2-0 for the Big 12 this season.

The Red Raiders came out strong in the first half, scoring two goals, but the game remained scoreless in the second half.

“We didn’t give ourselves a chance in the first half,” TCU head coach Eric Bell said. “Not getting a shot off in the first half, we set ourselves up for failure competing against a team like Texas Tech in a tough environment.”

Texas Tech outshot TCU 17-4, with 11 of those coming in the first half. TCU goalkeeper Vittoria Arnold saved four of six shots.

Neither team scored until the 19th minute when the Red Raiders broke away to convert their first shot, with sophomore midfielder Alli Murphy scoring.

The Frogs fought back with a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Makenzie Koch, but the Texas Tech defense stopped the Frogs from scoring.

The Red Raiders pushed to get their second goal, and in the 39th minute, sophomore midfielders Alli Murpy and Hannah Devine assisted freshman forward Maddy Crabtree for the score, stretching the lead to 2-0.

TCU started off stronger in the second half with shots coming from redshirt junior defender Morgan Lane, freshman forward Michelle Prokof, and senior defender Maddy Courvoisier. With 10 minutes left in the game, Courvoisier had the best opportunity to put the Frogs on the board, but her kick bounced off the crossbar.

“We learned lessons as far as our group is concerned tonight,” Bell said. "We saw what we can do and what we can change to help make our group successful. We hope to do that Sunday against Oklahoma State."

The Frogs will return home Sunday to take on Oklahoma State at 1 p.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
