With the NFL season now nearly halfway in the books, some former frogs have been lighting up the scoreboard while others are running out of time to make a name for themselves this year.

Once again, the big story when it comes to former TCU players is Bengals’ quarterback Andy Dalton. The 2011 graduate played what was arguably his best game of the season, throwing five touchdowns for a total of 325 yards in a 49-9 blowout victory over the New York Jets. Despite throwing one pick, Dalton has now led the Bengals to an impressive 6-2 record, putting the team in a position to make a serious playoff run come January.

On the side of the New York Jets, 2011 draftee Jeremy Kerley made three receptions but ultimately made little impact on the outcome of the game, recording a total of only 27 yards in the team’s worst defeat of the season thus far.

In Tampa Bay, Buccaneers’ rookie wide receiver Skye Dawson made his first career start and recorded his first career catch for 9 yards in a 31-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers. For Carolina, 2011 draftee and safety Colin Jones had little impact in the game, recording only one tackle in the Panthers’ third consecutive victory.

At the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans Saints’ linebacker David Hawthorne recorded eight tackles and one sack in a 35-17 victory over the Buffalo Bills. On the opposite side of the field, Bills’ linebacker Jerry Hughes also recorded one sack, but only made two tackles in the loss to New Orleans.

In Glendale, Arizona Cardinals’ pro bowl linebacker Daryl Washington recorded five tackles and one assist in a 27-13 victory over the struggling Atlanta Falcons, getting the Cardinals back to .500.

Additionally Cleveland Browns’ linebacker Tank Carder had little impact in a 23-17 loss to the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, recording only one tackle in the entire game. It is only the second game that Carder has made an appearance in this season.
