TCU’s board of trustees approved proposed renovations to the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum Thursday, which means the university is set to begin transforming the 52-year old arena.

The renderings, released by Athletics, provide a first look at the vision of a new DMC. The construction will begin in March and could last 18 months.

With a budget of $45 million, the renovations will affect both the interior and exterior of the DMC.

Part of the interior design includes new locker rooms, team meeting rooms and a sports medicine center. There are also designs for more courtside seating, new concession stands and a courtside club lounge in addition to wider concourses.

Other features include a TCU Athletics Hall of Fame display on the concourse level, offices for Olympic sports and administration and a main ticket office that can support both the DMC and Amon G. Carter Stadium.

The outside of the DMC is scheduled to get a face-lift as well. The façade will be changed to match that of Amon G. Carter Stadium and campus.

The renovated arena is expected to open October 2015.
