Still looking for their first Big 12 win of the season, the TCU men’s basketball team (9-7, 0-4 Big 12) is leading the Texas Tech Red Raiders (9-8, 1-3 Big 12) 24-23 at halftime.
Junior forward Amric Fields has a game-high nine points and six rebounds for the Frogs.
TCU started off slow once again, missing their first eight shots and only making one of their first 18 attempts.
With 6:49 left in the first half, the Frogs trailed 21-8 and looked like they were going to get blown out of the building. They then responded with an energetic 16-2 run to take the lead.
Freshman forward Brandon Parrish hit a three-pointer with 50 seconds left in the half to give the Frogs their first lead of the game.
Coming off an 82-72 upset win over the twelfth-ranked Baylor Bears (13-4, 1-3 Big 12), the Red Raiders opened the game with a 15-4 run. Texas Tech guard Dusty Hannahs scored all of his team-high eight points during that stretch.
The Frogs have been outrebounded 20-18 so far today. They’ve allowed seven offensive rebounds to Texas Tech but have seven of their own.
The Red Raiders have lost twelve straight road games. The Frogs are currently on a four-game losing streak.
Early in the first half, freshman center Karviar Shepherd had a shot at a dunk after grabbing an offensive rebound but missed it. He was then called for a technical foul for hanging onto the rim too long.
Shepherd has four points and four rebounds so far today.
TCU made 12 of 14 free throw attempts in the first half.
