The man accused of killing TCU senior Stewart Trese made his first appearance in court Friday morning.
David Hidalgo, 21, is being charged with murder and was granted a court appointed attorney.
Hidalgo is in Tarrant County jail on $100,000 bond.
Trese was found dead in his Grand Marc apartment on Feb. 4.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit that was released Wednesday, Hidalgo was turned in by his mother, Sandra Cardona, after Hidalgo told her he had stabbed someone that morning.
During a jailhouse interview with two news stations, Hidalgo said Trese made sexual advances toward him and that he stabbed Trese multiple times.
Hidalgo’s next court date has not been set.
