Clay Jennings, TCU’s cornerbacks coach since January 2008, has accepted a defensive backs coaching position at the University of Arkansas, according to the school.
In Jennings’ first three seasons with the Frogs, TCU led the nation in total defense. He has produced 10 all-conference selections at cornerback in his six years at TCU, including current NFL draft prospect and former All-American Jason Verrett.
Jennings has coached seven NFL defensive backs in his career, including TCU alum Greg McCoy and former Texans cornerback C.C. Brown.
“He was an instrumental part of a defensive unit at TCU known for giving an opposing offense a variety of looks while keeping schemes simple for their own players,” Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema said in a release. “In addition, his knowledge of the recruiting landscape in Texas will be a great benefit to our program.”
Bielema was the head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers team that lost to TCU in the 2011 Rose Bowl.
Jennings was a four-year letterwinner at the University of North Texas before coaching at several different schools including Houston, Baylor and Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Razorbacks lost all eight conference games last season, finishing with a 3-8 record overall in Bielema’s first season at Arkansas.
