TCU fell to the Texas Longhorns in Austin Wednesday night, 66-54, leaving the team just one more chance to get a conference win before the postseason.

The Frogs (9-20, 0-17) stayed within striking distance for the majority of the game, but could not overcome the gap due to poor shooting and being soundly beaten on the boards 48-32.

Junior guard Kyan Anderson led the Frogs with 28 points on 7 of 18 shooting from the field. Anderson scored 18 of his total in the first half alone, including the Frogs’ first 14 points.

First-year center Karviar Shepherd had arguably his worst game of the season, scoring just four points on 1 of 13 shooting from the field. However, Shepherd did pull down seven rebounds.

Perhaps even more problematic is the Frogs’ inability to find open shooters. In 40 minutes of basketball, TCU managed just one assist.

Sophomore center Cameron Ridley had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Longhorns (22-8, 11-6), who with the win, are hoping to grab the #2 seed in the upcoming Big 12 Conference Tournament.

The Longhorns were without their leading scorer, junior forward Jonathan Holmes, who sat out the game due to a knee injury.

TCU will play its final game of the season on Saturday, March 8, against the Oklahoma Sooners in Daniel Meyer Coliseum in Fort Worth. It will be the last game in the DMC before it is closed for major renovations. Tip-off is schedule for 3:00 p.m.
