TCU announced the resignation of women’s basketball head coach Jeff Mittie Tuesday, as Mittie will become the new women’s basketball head coach at Kansas State.
“We can’t thank Jeff enough for the contributions he’s made to TCU and our women’s basketball over the last 15 years,” TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte said, according to GoFrogs.com.
Mittie, who compiled over 300 wins in his 15-year career at TCU, is TCU’s all-time leader in career wins. He guided the Frogs to 12 postseason appearances in 14 years, including nine NCAA tournament berths.
The five-time conference coach of the year also has 454 wins and 21 winnings season in 22 years as a head coach.
“This was not a decision about TCU,” Del Conte said. “This was a decision for Jeff on being able to go home and be closer to family. We wish him the best.”
While his former team heads to Colorado this week for the WNIT, Mittie will not join them. Associate head coach Brian Ostermann will coach on an interim basis throughout the tournament.
Ostermann has been with the Frogs for six seasons.
