Tanglewood to hold neighborhood-wide yard sale this Saturday

The Tanglewood neighborhood will hold a neighborhood-wide yard sale Saturday, March 22 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The idea for the yard sale originated with Mary and Tom Cochran, residents of Hartwood Drive, who moved to the area two months ago. For them, the sale is a way to get rid of unwanted goods and meet their neighbors.

Currently, 32 homes will be involved in the neighborhood-wide sale, in addition to a majority of homes on Lynncrest Drive. A map that locates other homes hosting yard sales will be available.

The Cochrans have encouraged families to include their children in the event by creating lemonade stands and booths for baked goods.

To hold a yard sale, sellers must first obtain a garage/estate sale permit from the city of Fort Worth. Mary Cochran said basic preparation for the sale takes about a full day focused on picking and pricing items.

Mary Cochran said she predicts the neighborhood-wide sale will be a huge success and plans to conduct another one next year.

“We want this to be a way for everyone to come together,” she said. “At the end of the day, we plan on having a little celebration at our house for everyone’s hard work.”
