The TCU women’s tennis team swept Kansas State (8-11, 2-5 Big 12) Friday night 7-0.

The Horned Frogs (11-11, 4-4 Big 12) won the doubles action point. TCU played four three-set matches and won each of them.

Seniors Millie Nichols and Monika Sirilova defeated KSU’s Livia Cirnu and Maria Panaite 8-1, while junior Simona Parajova and freshman Sofiko Kadzhaya defeated Palma Juhasz and Iva Bago.

Junior Stefanie Tan and freshman Seda Arantekin kept up the winning streak by beating Petra Niedermayerova and Amina St. Hill 8-1.

Parajova won her match against Juhasz 6-1, 6-3 on Court No. 2. Sirilova won in straight sets on wining over Cirnu 6-4, 6-0.

No. 50 Tan fought to win after losing her first set over No. 38 Niedermayerova. Tan ultimately defeated Niedermayerova 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 on court No. 1.

Nichols said she felt like she struggled despite defeating Bago 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.

“It was kind of frustrating because I know I am really rusty right now with my first match back,” Nichols said. “More than anything I have to keep my calm and just being okay that I am not playing up to what I am capable of playing.”

Kadzhaya won over Panaite 6-3, 6-1, while Arantekin won against St. Hill 6-1, 3-2.

“I think it was very good how the girls fought,” Arantekin said. “Four matches were three sets and girls lost the first set but they came back and to fight so I am really proud of them.”

Senior night and the final home match will take place on Sunday against Kansas at 10 a.m. at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
