Alumnus Clay York died from heart disease, according to the New York City medical examiner’s office.
Dilated cardiomyopathy, an enlarged ventricle that makes it harder to pump blood to the body with as much force, can result in sudden death, according to the Mayo Clinic website. It does not necessarily cause symptoms.
The spokeswoman for the medical examiner described the death as “natural.”
York died Dec. 22 in New York City, where he had a fellowship with the Bill T. Jones and Arnie Zane Dance Company. He was Mr. TCU his senior year and a resident assistant.
York was honored, along with Matthew Nichols and Stewart Trese, at the first student memorial service April 22. He was also honored at a memorial service earlier in the semester.
