Former TCU star LaDainian Tomlinson received his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame Thursday afternoon, making him the 11th Frog in school history to receive the honor.
Before reaching national prominence with the San Diego Chargers, Tomlinson spent four years as a TCU running back. The 5-foot-10 speedster led the nation in rushing as a junior and senior, according to ESPN.
Tomlinson also won the Doak Walker Award for the nation’s top running back in 2000. He is the only player in FBS history to rush for 400 yards in a single game.
After his time with the Frogs, Tomlinson went on to San Diego where he was a five-time Pro Bowler and 2006 NFL MVP. He rushed for over 13,600 yards and 145 touchdowns during his pro career.
10 TCU football players and coaches were inducted into the Hall of Fame before Tomlinson, according to a press release: Ki Aldrich, Sam Baugh, Madison A. Bell, Darrell Lester, Bob Lilly, Rags Matthews, Dutch Meyer, Davey O’Brien and Jim Swink.
To go along with being TCU’s 11th inductee, Tomlinson is also the first since 1980.
Below are some reactions from Twitter to Tomlinson’s induction.
I’m so honored to be selected to the College Hall of Fame. Thanks to my teammates, coaches, family and fans!!#TCU

It’s great how new College Football Hall of Fame member @LT_21 still says “We” in all references to TCU and anything regarding @TCUFootball.

Interesting note on LaDainian Tomlinson via @TCUSID: finished TCU career in 2000, came back and earned degree in 2005.

How often do you think people stop LaDainian Tomlinson on the street and thank him for winning them a fantasy football title?

Hardly a surprise, but @LT_21 named to College FB Hall of Fame today. Next stop, Canton in 2017.
