Junior quarterback Trevone Boykin started at quarterback and led the Horned Frogs to a 24-7 lead over Samford in the first half of the 2014 season-opener.

TCU debuted a new air-raid offense, with Boykin leading the Frogs to 278 yards in total offense.

It took only two minutes for TCU to score its first touchdown of the 2014 campaign.

Boykin led an 8-play, 75-yard drive that resulted in a 2-yard touchdown run for B.J. Catalon.

The Horned Frogs’ defense was also impressive, holding the Samford Bulldogs to 131 yards of total offense.

Defensive end Mike Tuaua registered a sack and a forced fumble, and senior linebacker Paul Dawson recorded his first interception of the season.

Boykin fired a 38-yard touchdown pass to speedy wideout Kolby Listenbee on the Horned Frogs’ third possession, increasing the score to 14-0.

In the second quarter, TCU’s offense kept rolling. Boykin found wide receiver David Porter for a 19-yard touchdown on a slant route over the middle.

Junior kicker Jaden Oberkrom also jumped in on the action, kicking a 22-yarder to increase the score to 24-0.

Samford running back Denzel Williams scored the Bulldogs’ only points of the first half on a 2-yard touchdown run with 3:30 left in the half.

Senior quarterback Matt Joeckel will likely feature at some point in the second half as the Horned Frogs look to close out their first win of the 2014 season.
