Trinity River Trash Bash cleanup effort enlists volunteers

The Trinity River will get a fresh sparkle this weekend when Tarrant Regional Water District holds its 23rd Annual Trinity River Trash Bash.

Volunteers can register on the event’s website to help out at nine cleanup locations from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sept. 20. A locator map is provided on the registration form.

All participants are welcomed to join an after party for free food, door prizes and entertainment by Radio Disney AM 620 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Panther Island Pavilion, located behind the TCC Trinity River Campus. Trash bags and gloves will be given to volunteers the day of the event, according to the website. Those who registered by Sept. 7 will also receive Trash Bash T-shirts.

Brenda Fry, the event’s coordinator, wrote in an email that 3,629 volunteers attended the 22nd Annual Trinity River Trash Bash and collected more than 16 tons of trash.

For more information about the Trinity River Trash Bash or to volunteer, visit their website or Facebook page.
