The TCU soccer team extended its winning streak to six with a win over North Texas on Sunday in Denton.
The last time the Frogs had a six game winning streak was in 1997. The victory on Sunday ties for the longest wining streak in program history.
The first half of the game was scoreless, with the best attempt for a Frog goal coming in the 23rd minute from junior midfielder Madeline Hamm. She went one-on-one toward the goal but Jackie Kerestine, North Texas’ junior goalkeeper, came up with the save.
TCU’s game-winner would come in the second half. Freshman forward Kela Gray scored in the 61st minute off an assist from Ryan Williams to give the Frogs a 1-0 advantage over the Mean Green. The goal marks Gray’s second straight game-winning shot.
The Frogs had seven shots on goal while the Mean Green had four.
Vittoria Arnold assisted in the victory with four saves to clinch her fifth shutout of the season.
With the win over North Texas, TCU improves to 7-3 on the season. The Frogs take on nationally ranked West Virginia at home on Friday for their first Big 12 matchup.
