High winds ripped apart and uprooted trees as severe weather tore through the 109 Thursday afternoon.

Shortly afterward, tree service and emergency vehicles drove along neighborhood streets near Overton Park which is home to many mature trees in the area.

Men worked to clear the way for passing vehicles along Bellaire Drive around 6 p.m. as people returned to the park to walk, jog and view the damage.
