Baylor defeated TCU 61-58 after overcoming a 21-point deficit in the 4th quarter and finishing the game on a 24-0 scoring run.
Things started to go downhill for the Horned Frogs after they scored their final touchdown of the game and had two unsportsmanlike misconducts called on them.
Baylor would start their drive at the TCU 45-yard line and score after two quick runs by running back Shock Linwood and the scoring run by running back Devin Chafin.
Linwood, who was shut down in the first half, finished the game with 178 yards rushing on 29 attempts.
However, the real offensive star for the Bears, who improved to 6-0 on the season, was quarterback Bryce Petty.
Petty finished the game with 510 yards through the air and six touchdowns. He also added 23 yards on the ground.
The game, which set a record for most points scored between two top 10 teams (119), ended when Baylor kicker Chris Callahan hit a 28-yard field goal as time expired.
The TCU defense, which came in ranked in the top 10 in the country, allowed 782 total yards for the game and had a number of costly penalties, including a questionable pass interference call on the Bears’ last drive of the game.
TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin had 287 yards and a touchdown, while running back B.J. Catalon had two touchdowns on the ground.
A turning point in the game came at the end of the first half when TCU fumbled on a punt attempt to give Baylor the three extra points that they ended up needing to win at the end of the game.
The Horned Frogs have scored on their opening drive of every game this season, but their offense completely stalled at the end of the game after running back Aaron Green’s touchdown run on the first drive of the fourth quarter.
TCU linebacker Marcus Mallet had an interception returned for a score, which accounted for the Horned Frogs’ last points of the game with 11:38 left.
The Horned Frogs (4-1, 1-1) will take on Oklahoma State at home Saturday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m.
