No matter if it’s the first time to see these sites or a regular event, there is always something interesting to do in Fort Worth. Check out everything the city has to offer:

Stockyards Historic District

Shop for cowboy boots, hats, clothing and souvenirs. Visit the stockyards for a family environment, for “the Stockyards Rodeo prides itself on being a fun and exciting place for families to enjoy their time together,” according to the website.

The Stockyards Championship Rodeo is held every Friday and Saturday night at 8 p.m. at Cowtown Coliseum. Tickets for adults are $17.50. Saturday afternoons include Pawnee Bill’s Wild West Show at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Those tickets are $15 for adults.

Fort Worth Herd

The Fort Worth Herd moves every day at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. The herd of Texas Longhorns represents Fort Worth’s Western heritage. City wranglers move the cattle twice a day. “The drovers drive the longhorns along the East Exchange Avenue, harking back to a time when the great herds rumbled through the dusty streets of Fort Worth on their way to market,” according to the website.

Billy Bob’s Texas

The world’s largest honky-tonk hosts concerts and dancing every weekend. “Billy Bob’s hosts over 300 concerts annually, is home to live bull riding, a four-star restaurant and retail store; all in a world class, authentic Western culture,” according to the website.

Purchase tickets for one of the three concerts during homecoming weekend. Tickets range from $10-20. Doors open at 6 p.m. A band will play live music before the Friday and Saturday night concerts, beginning at 8 p.m.

• Oct. 16: Mark McKinney at 9 p.m.
• Oct. 17: Sean McConnell at 10:30 p.m.
• Oct. 18: Mark Chesnutt at 10:30 p.m.

The Fort Worth Zoo

The Fort Worth Zoo showcases its newest residents: mountain lion cubs, Asian elephant calves, a jaguar cub, black-neck swan cygnets, golden-headed lion tamarins and the first greater one-horned rhino calf born in Texas

The Fort Worth Zoo is a nationally ranked facility, with nearly 7,000 native and exotic animals, according to its website.The zoo is open 365 days a year. Admission costs anywhere from $9-12 and $5 for parking.

West 7th Street

West 7th is a destination spot for shoppers and entertainment seekers. Restaurants range from Rodeo Goat to Pei Wei to Sushi Axiom. There’s shopping at SuperTarget and several specialty stores, but West 7th is more than a shopping center. It’s a modern-day mecca where you can grab a bite to eat with friends and family and enjoy fresh, open-air gardens. You can get your daily exercise at LA Fitness, and then meet up with friends to grab some food and catch a movie at Movie Tavern. West 7th makes it easy for you to live, eat, shop and dine in one convenient location, according to the website.

Museums

Fort Worth’s Cultural District has five world class museums all within walking distance of each other. The Fort Worth Museum Science and History has the Mythbusters exhibit based on the popular television show. There is also the Modern Art Museum, Kimbell Art Museum, Amon Carter Museum and National Cowgirl Hall of Fame Museum.

Admission varies. The hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Bass Performance Hall

“Bass Performance Hall is the crown jewel of a city which boasts the nation’s third largest cultural district. It is also an important symbol of one of the most successful downtown revitalization efforts in the country,” according to its website.

Bass Hall will host two events during homecoming weekend:

• Oct. 17: UNT One O’Clock Lab Band at 7:30 p.m. UNT One O’Clock Lab Band
• Oct. 17-19: The Sleeping Beauty by Texas Ballet Theater at various times

Bass Hall also offers tours of the building every Saturday at 10 a.m. The tours are guided by volunteers for an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes each.

Fort Worth Botanic Garden

A visit to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden is “a sanctuary for the senses,” according to its website.

The gardens are open from dawn to dusk 365 days a year. However, the Garden Center, Conservatory and Japanese Garden hold different hours of operation.

Casa Mañana

Casa Mañana has a fresh spin on an old fairy tale. Snow White and the Prince is a musical by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman. Snow White flees into the forest when the evil queen crashes her birthday party.

Casa Mañana will perform Snow White and the Prince Friday, Oct. 10 through Sunday, Oct. 26 at various times.

Sundance Square

Sundance Square is an urban area in downtown Fort Worth filled with offices, residences, shops, restaurants and entertainment options. A central location offers great access to this 35-block district that attracts millions of visitors each year, according to its website.

The Sundance Square Plaza will host events throughout the weekend:

• Oct. 17: The Cliburn presents Fei Fei Dong at 5:30 p.m.
• Oct. 19: The Cliburn presents Fei Fei Dong at 3 p.m.

Fei Fei Dong is one of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition finalists from 2013. She is praised for her “natural musicality and beauty of tone,” according to the website.
