TCU has outscored its last 10 homecoming opponents 401-141, and has been victorious in all but one of the contests. Here’s a look at how the Frogs have fared in their most recent homecoming matchups.
Oct. 12, 2013, 27-17 win over Kansas
The Frogs earned their first homecoming win in a Big 12 contest last season, beating a poor Kansas team 27-17. The Horned Frogs were tied with the Jayhawks at half, but a 75-yard pass from Trevone Boykin to David Porter on the first play of the second half opened up the game and lead TCU to victory.
Oct. 20, 2012, 56-53 (3OT) loss to Texas Tech
The Horned Frogs lost a heartbreaker to the Red Raiders in their first Big 12 homecoming game. It was the Frogs’ only homecoming loss in their last 10 homecoming match-ups. TCU and Texas Tech exchanged touchdowns in the first two overtime periods, but after TCU settled for a field goal in the third overtime, Tech responded with its third overtime touchdown to seal the victory.
Oct. 22, 2011, 69-0 win over New Mexico
TCU’s biggest homecoming victory of the last 10 years came against New Mexico in 2011. New Mexico was only able to muster 85 yards of total offense and nine different TCU players scored touchdowns in the blowout.
Oct. 23, 2010, 38-7 win over Air Force
The Horned Frogs’ homecoming game in the Rose Bowl-winning season came against Air Force. Sophomore running back Ed Wesley rushed for two touchdowns in the victory, and quarterback Andy Dalton had a 47-yard rush in the third quarter, his longest career rush at TCU.
Oct. 31, 2009, 41-0 win over UNLV
TCU racked up 390 yards on the ground in a 41-0 blowout over UNLV on Halloween Night in 2009. The Frogs would go on to win every game that season before losing to Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl.
Oct. 25, 2008, 54-7 win over Wyoming
Sophomore wide receiver Jimmy Young racked up a school record 226 yards on five catches in a win over Wyoming. Wyoming was first in the Mountain West Conference in pass defense coming into the game, but Dalton torched the Cowboys for 334 passing yards.
Sept. 22, 2007, 21-7 win over SMU
TCU brought the Iron Skillet back to Fort Worth with a two-touchdown victory over rivals SMU in 2007. It was Dalton’s first Iron Skillet game of his career.
Oct. 28, 2006, 26-3 win over Wyoming
The Horned Frogs bounced back after conference losses to BYU and Utah to beat Wyoming at home. Coach Gary Patterson called it the “most complete game” that the Frogs had played that season.
Oct. 15, 2005, 38-17 win over Army
TCU moved up to No. 21 in the AP polls after a 21-point victory over the Black Knights. TCU only led by four at halftime before opening up the game in the second half.
Oct. 23, 2004, 34-27 win over Houston
TCU’s closest homecoming victory in the last 10 years was a 7-point win over the Houston Cougars in 2004. TCU’s current co-offensive coordinator Doug Meacham would arrive at Houston the following season.
