Homecoming kicks off Wednesday, October 15, with all the usual lively events to enjoy and participate in.
The Homecoming schedule begins with “Lunch on the Lawn” on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Sadler lawn.
“There will be Frito pies from Potbelly’s, it’ll be very much of a picnic atmosphere,” said Ali Stowe, student activities coordinator. “The lunch will also offer giveaways and raffle off a chance to meet comedian BJ Novak.”
Enjoy some relaxing yoga with Lululemon, Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in the Commons. A movie in the Brown-Lupton University Union ballroom, featuring “Guardians of the Galaxy” will be showing at 10 p.m.
A big tradition, the Homecoming parade begins at 6 p.m. Friday, which includes student organizations, alumni, community groups and the TCU band to unify and celebrate TCU. A pep rally will follow with the TCU Band and cheerleaders to increase campus morale and amp up fans for the football game.
The 14th Annual FrogFest will start up immediately after the pep rally in the Campus Commons, providing bounce houses, face painters, balloon artists, free yogurt from Dannon and other fun activities for children and families to join in. FrogFest will also be offering a free concert by Robert Earl Keen, a country singer known for his song, “The Road Goes on Forever.”
“FrogFest is a cornerstone event of Homecoming Weekend that encourages alumni, parents and friends of TCU to come back to campus,” said Laura Gore, assistant director of alumni relations.
The Homecoming excitement will continue with TCU Football taking on the Oklahoma State University Cowboys Saturday. The crowning of Mr. and Ms. TCU will take place at halftime during the game.
Homecoming will end with laughs by comedian BJ Novak, performing stand up in the BLUU ballroom following the game at 10 p.m. Tickets for the show can be reserved here.
This will be Ali Stowe’s first official year in charge of Homecoming.
“This year we are trying to offer more activities and community events throughout the week,” Stowe said.
