The nurse who contracted the Ebola virus while treating the first U.S. Ebola patient is now virus-free and was released from the hospital today, according to the Associated Press.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Maryland announced Friday morning that Pham was scheduled to be discharged from the institute and would be cleared to return home to Texas.

Dallas nurse Nina Pham, a 2010 TCU graduate, was infected with the virus while caring for Thomas Eric Duncan, a Liberian who was the first person in the U.S. to be diagnosed with the virus. Duncan died on Oct. 8.

Pham works at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas, where she was originally being treated. She was moved to NIH on Oct. 16.
