The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams set a new school record during day two of their three day split invitational on Friday.
Cooper Robinson, Ford Story, Garrett Hills and Josh Mangus set the record in the men’s 200 medley relay team. They finished third in the event clocking a time of 1:28.09, which is 0.04 seconds faster than the previous school record.
While the swimming teams competed in the Art Adamson Invitational in College Station, the diving teams competed in Austin at the UT Diving Invite.
On the men’s swimming side, Story earned TCU’s first NCAA ‘B” cut time in the 100 breast prelims and finals. In the finals of the 400 IM Mitch Adshead and Carlos Hunnicutt finished in eighth and seventh -place respectively.
Senior Sebastian Arispe recorded the team’s best time in the 200 free with a time of 1:39.95 in the prelims.
Another men’s medley team of Carlos Hunnicutt, Thor Stenfjord, Arispe and Owen Pink earned 10th place in the 800 free relay.
For the women, freshman Emily Gibson placed 5th in the consolation round for the women’s 100 fly while freshman Devin Newton finished 6th in the women’s 100 breast consolation round.
Junior Mikayla Winkler placed 4th in her heat for the women’s 200 free prelims.
For the men’s dive team it was senior Ricky Bradley that led the team. Seniors Curtis Muller and Evan Folan also competed in the event.
Freshman Ty Sides led the women’s dive team with a score of 209.70 in the 1-meter dive. Four other members of the women’s dive team competed.
The dive team is set to conclude its action at the UT Diving Invite today.
