Local artist working to enhance Overton Park art

Foster and Overton Parks are planning $3 million worth of improvements to their facilities, according to its master plan.

One improvement that is being discussed is the renovation of the “Nature’s Essence” statue in Overton Park and the addition of more art in the park.

The statue was originally sculpted in 2010 by local artist Eliseo Garcia, who is currently working on a plan to make the statue more inviting to the park’s visitors.

Garcia is also working with another landscape architect to plan other opportunities for art in the park, according to Fort Worth Art Council public collections manager Jenny Conn.

Conn said the new plan will be presented to the Fort Worth Art Commission on Jan. 1.

Tom Hutchinson, founder of the Foster and Overton Park Association, said the budget for the new plan is $45,000.
