LUBBOCK, Texas – Kyan Anderson scored 19 points to lead TCU to a 62-42 road win against Texas Tech on Saturday.
The Horned Frogs defense showed once again why it’s one of the best in the country. The Red Raiders shot 11 of 48 (22.9 percent) and had season lows in shooting percentage (20 percent) and points (14) in the first half. Their five first-half field goals tied a season low.
The strong performance on defense allowed the Horned Frogs (14-3, 1-3 Big 12) to earn their first Big 12 win after starting conference play with three losses by a total of 23 points.
“For the first time since we started league play, we put together two good halves defensively,” TCU head coach Trent Johnson said.
With the win, the Frogs improve to 14-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play. Texas Tech falls to 0-5 this season against Big 12 opponents and 10-8 overall.

Red Raiders coach Tubby Smith hasn’t had a team start 0-5 in conference play in his previous 23 seasons as a head coach.
The victory for the Frogs was not only their first ever Big 12 road win, but also snapped a 23-game losing streak in conference games. TCU lost all 21 of its previous Big 12 road matchups.
In fact, TCU had only won two Big 12 games entering Saturday’s contest: the historic 62-55 upset over then-No. 5 Kansas and a 70-67 win over Oklahoma.
The Frogs next return home for a Monday night matchup with No. 20 Texas (12-4, 1-2 Big 12).
“The kids can enjoy it for the plane ride,” Johnson said. “Then we’ve got a 5:30 practice, then we got Texas. It never ends in this league.’
