Former TCU catcher Kyle Bacak was suspended under baseball’s minor league drug program for using amphetamines, according to a report published Wednesday by the Associated Press.
Bacak, who is currently a free agent, was drafted by the Washington Nationals in 2014. He was part of the Auburn Doubledays before he was released.
Bacak received a 50-game suspension that will begin if he signs with another big league organization.
During Bacak’s senior year at TCU, his suicide squeeze bunt against Pepperdine at the Fort Worth Super Regional clinched TCU’s entrance into the 2014 College World Series. He started 59 games at catcher and finished with a .269 batting average.
Four other minor league baseball players were suspended on Wednesday for using performance enhancing drugs. So far this year, nine minor leaguers have been suspended under minor league baseball’s drug program.
