After pulling off an unlikely upset against No. 13 Texas on Sunday, the Frogs couldn’t follow their strong performance in Morgantown.

The loss drops the TCU women to 13-8 overall and 5-5 in Big 12 play while West Virginia’s win advances them to 14-8 on the season and 4-6 in conference play.

TCU got off to a slow start in the first half and trailed at halftime by a score of 39-27. The Mountaineers out rebounded the frogs in the first period of play by a margin of 30-14.

But the Frogs didn’t go down without a fight.

West Virginia was up 10 with six minutes remaining when Ventress knocked to down two 3-pointers to pull the Frogs within four with 4:28 left in the game.

But the Mountaineers answered with five straight points, which included a three point play by guard Bria Holmes. The junior led all scorers with 30 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds.

Junior Zahna Medley and senior Natalie Ventress led the frogs in scoring with 14 points each.

The Frogs will hit the road again on Sunday to take on Texas Tech. Tip off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
