Men’s basketball looks to Kansas State and Kansas this week

Coming off an upset victory over No. 22 Oklahoma State, the Frogs (15-10, 2-10 Big 12) will look to win back-to-back Big 12 games for the first time since joining the conference in 2012.

TCU’s next opponent, Kansas State (13-13, 6-7 Big 12), is coming off an upset victory of its own. The Wildcats took down No. 17 Oklahoma this past Saturday by the score of 59-56.

In TCU’s win over No. 22 Oklahoma State, point guard Kyan Anderson led the Frogs’ scorers with 14 points despite going 4-for-13 shooting. The senior has been averaging 13.1 points per game this season.

The Wildcats and the Frogs have met once already this season. That game, which was played in Manhattan, Kansas, resulted in a 58-53 loss for TCU. Since joining the Big 12, TCU has never beaten Kansas State in basketball.

Kansas State is led by guard Marcus Foster. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound sophomore is averaging 14 points per game this season. Foster hit the game winning 3-pointer in the Wildcats’ win over No. 17 Oklahoma.

If TCU is able to came out with another home win, it will be the first time the Frogs have won back-to-back games since Dec. 29.

Following the game against the Wildcats, TCU will head to Kansas’ Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday for a matchup with the No. 8 Jayhawks.

The Jayhawks (21-5, 10-3 Big 12), who are led by NBA prospects Perry Ellis and Kelly Oubre Jr., beat TCU 64-61 earlier this year in Fort Worth.

TCU has only beaten Kansas once since joining the Big 12. The victory came during the Frogs’ inaugural Big 12 2012-2013 season when they took down the Jayhawks 62-55 at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

Tipoff against Kansas State is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The game against Kansas is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN 2.
