The Frogs’ late-inning rally didn’t fall short this time. The No. 1 TCU baseball team beat Arizona State 3-2 on Sunday to take the series and improve to 6-1 on the season.
Senior Cody Jones singled with two outs in the ninth to break a 2-2 tie. Riley Ferrell then came in to close out the game with a 1-2-3 inning and earn his first save of the season.
The Sun Devils scored on a pair of solo home runs in the second and third innings, but the Frogs fought back for a run in the third, sixth and ninth innings.
Junior Alex Young tossed five innings of two-run ball en route to a no-decision.
The Frogs head back to Fort Worth for a home game against Texas Southern at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The game was moved from Tuesday to Wednesday because of concerns over winter weather.
