Weekend sports recap: Mens golf title caps off strong weekend for TCU sports

Men’s golf wins first team title since 2013

The No. 35 TCU men’s golf beat Texas Tech by one stroke to bring home the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate title.

The Frogs were nine strokes behind No. 15 Texas Tech at the beginning of the day on Sunday, but they came back to claim the title. The Frogs last won a team title when they brought home the same title in 2013.

Men’s tennis beats Rice 4-1

The No. 18 men’s tennis team improved to 6-3 on the season after beating Rice 4-1 on Sunday in Houston.

The Frogs’ next matches will be in Fort Worth on March 1. They will face Wisconsin at noon and Incarnate Word at 4:30 p.m.

Women’s tennis defeats USF 5-2

The women’s tennis team dominated in doubles on Friday night to set the tone for the 5-2 victory.

TCU’s next match is against North Texas on Wednesday.

Equestrian has rough weekend

The Frogs had a rough weekend, losing to both Kansas State on Friday and Oklahoma State on Saturday.

Before last weekend, TCU equestrian was ranked No. 3. After the loss to Kansas State, the Frogs dropped to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in league play.

Junior Chantz Stewart and sophomore Kari Hancock both received MOP accolades Friday morning. However, it was not enough for the Frogs to pull out a win.

On Saturday, TCU faced No.9 Oklahoma State. The match resulted in a 10-10 draw, but the Frogs fell to the Cowgirls by an overall raw score of 1,585-1569.3.

The Horned Frogs are now 5-4 overall and 2-4 in the Big 12.
