TCU is now 8-2 after a one-out single in the bottom of the 12th caused No. 25 USC to walk away with a 7-6 win Friday night.

The teams played in the opening game of the Dodger Classic.

In the 12th inning, Timmy Robinson stole second and moved to third on a base hit from Angelo ArmentaBlake Lacey dropped down a suicide squeeze and Robinson barreled over the catcher to score the game-winning run.

TCU’s four-run rally in the ninth tied the score 6-6 and brought the game into extra innings. TCU scored four times on three hits and two costly USC errors.

The teams were tied until USC eventually grabbed the lead in the fourth after a miscue in left field allowed Dante Flores to score.

The Frogs then took advantage of USC’s second error of the game and tied the game 1-1 in the fifth inning with a run from Nolan Brown

Misfortune struck in the bottom of the sixth as USC broke the tie and scored four two-out runs.

In the seventh, Elliott Barzilli’s single drove in Brown to make it a 5-2 contest. In the bottom of the inning, the Trojan’s gained a 6-2 lead after earning a run on a Robinson sacrifice fly.

No runs were gained in the eighth, but the Frogs proved themselves in the ninth with four runs, setting up the extra-inning play.

Mitchell Traver surrendered three runs, two earned, on six hits in 5 2/3 innings of work. He walked one and struck out seven in the no-decision.

Ryan Burnett was touched for three runs on four hits. Brian Trieglaff retired all four batters he faced. Trey Teakell (0-1) took the loss after giving up a run on four hits. He walked one and struck out three.

The Frogs are 27-15 all-time in extra innings under Jim Schlossnagle. TCU committed multiple errors in a game for only the second time this season.

The Frogs will continue play in the Dodgertown Classic Saturday night when they head to UCLA to take on the fourth-ranked Bruins. The game is set for 8 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
