Men’s tennis travels across DFW to face rival SMU

Mens tennis travels across DFW to face rival SMU

The No. 10 TCU men’s tennis team will take on SMU this Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Dallas.

The Frogs (17-6, 2-2 Big 12) have won their last three matches and are looking to beat SMU (17-7, 0-2 AAC) for the fifth consecutive time. The last time SMU took down the Frogs was in 2010 with a 4-3 decision.

The Mustangs may have their work cut out for them, because each of TCU’s last three wins came over top 25 opponents.

For their last three matches, TCU beat No. 22 Oklahoma State, No. 21 Texas Tech and No. 22 USF.

SMU’s Head Coach Carl Neufeld told he is looking forward to the challenge.

“The Horned Frogs have one of their best teams in many years,” said Neufeld. “We’re hoping to get a good crowd to come watch what should be a great match.”

SMU reached 15 home wins this year for the first time since 2008. They will play a total of 22 home matches this season.

TCU is lead by singles leader Nick Chappell, who is ranked No. 36 in the country. The Frogs also have Norrie and Trevor Johnson who make up the No. 18 doubles team in the nation.

The match will be played in SMU’s new tennis complex, the home for all of the Mustangs’ home matches this season.
