Two TCU students were arrested in connection with a suspected drunk driving incident after a 46-year-old woman was killed in a car crash late Saturday night.
Fort Worth police arrived at the scene of the crash near the intersection of Benbrook Boulevard, Granbury Road, McCart Avenue and Cleburne Avenue at 9:40 p.m. Saturday night.
The paramedics showed up to the scene later and pronounced Elena Infante De Flores, 46, dead.
The approximate location of the crash is below:
According to the police, Jonathan “Luke” Reed, 22, was driving the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, which collided with Infante De Flores’ 2003 Saturn Vue. He was arrested on suspicion of intoxication manslaughter, according to the police report.
TCU student John Morgan, 23, was in the passenger seat of the car. According to the police report, Morgan was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.
Sarah Kimsey, who lives near the intersection where the crash occurred, said she learned from the victim’s daughter that Infante De Flores was on her way to pick her daughter up from work.
Kimsey and her sister-in-law, Monica Pentecost, said they were sitting in Kimsey’s living room when the accident happened. They said they immediately checked to make sure Reed and Morgan were okay.
“[Reed] told me, ‘Yeah, I’m all right, but I’m pretty f—ed up. I basically lost control,'” Pentecost said.
Pentecost said Morgan asked her if they had hit a parked car.
Kimsey said when police arrived, Morgan received medical attention before both him and Reed were handcuffed and escorted to the back of a police car, which later left the site of the crash.
Morgan was released from the Fort Worth City Jail Saturday night. Reed was sent to Mansfield Jail and was released after he posted bond.
Reed could serve 2-20 years in prison and pay a fine up to $10,000 for intoxication manslaughter under Texas state law.
Morgan could be fined up to $500 for public intoxication.
Both Reed and Morgan are in their senior year at TCU. The two men enrolled in the university for the 2011 fall semester, according to TCU records.
