A panel of TCU alumni addressed students during a forum on Tuesday, Sept. 22, hosted by the College of Science and Engineering.

The panel included Amy Patterson, class of 2002 and 2010, Bill Bennett, class of 1971, and Nick Bigham, class of 2013.

The three alumni joined the dean of the college, Phil Hartman, to talk about the process of their interviews, resumes, internships and experiences in the workforce.

Hartman said students in the college are being technically prepared, but it is important for them to learn career skills as well.

“We thought it would really be advantageous to have experts from graduates from our college really talking to students about their experience,” Hartman said. “So much of surviving and thriving in the work environment is more than just knowing technical stuff.”

The panelists shared their experiences, advice and opinions on the different subjects.

Nathan Peoples, a junior computer science major, said the panelists covered exactly what he was expecting.

“I’m ecstatic that we got this many students,” Hartman said. “We didn’t know what to expect. We’re hoping to sustain the attendance throughout the course of the semester.”

The next forum is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 21. The dates for the final two events will be announced early in the spring semester.
