TCU men’s basketball are set to begin the season with a brand-new look.
Four new players have been added to the team for this season. Two were recruited as freshmen while two transferred as sophomores.
Eight TCU players from the 2014-15 season either graduated or moved on. Now head coach Trent Johnson is excited to see how the new players will step into leadership roles.
“We have an opportunity this year with a lot of new additions,” Johnson said at Big 12 Basketball Media Days. “They have to have a huge role for us to be successful.”
JD Miller, Dallas, TX, was recruited out of Seagoville High School. ESPN.com ranked Miller as the 19th best small forward in the nation.
Lyrik Shreiner, Glendale, AZ, was recruited out of Hillcrest Academy in Phoenix. Both Rivals and ESPN named Shreiner as a three star recruit.
Malique Trent is a sophomore transfer from New Mexico Junior College. Trent earned NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention accolades, and was named the NJCAA Freshman of the Year.
Vladimir Brodziansky is a sophomore transfer from Pratt Community College. Brodziansky was rated as the No. 21 rated junior college prospect nationally as well as the No. 10 rated junior college power forward.
“I’m looking forward to this year in terms of trying to make that next jump, that next step,” Johnson said.
TCU men’s basketball is coming off of an 18-15 record in which they advanced to the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament last Spring. The team hopes to advance even further along this season with the new players on board.
