The Horned Frog men’s basketball team improved to 2-0 Thursday night with a 90-63 victory over Houston Baptist University Huskies at the Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Senior forward Devonta Abron led the way for the Frogs with 22 points, tying his career high. Foward Vladimir Brodziansky and guard Chauncey Collins tied for a team-second best 13 points on the night.
Brodziansky also led the Frogs with four blocks on the night, giving the first year transfer another impressive performance in only his second career game as a Horned Frog.
The Frogs dominated the Huskies early, including a 22-4 run over a 12 minute span that gave TCU at 42-10 lead at one point. The Frogs would take 44-19 lead into the locker-room at the half. Another solid offensive showing in the second half was enough to give the Frogs a comfortable 27 point victory.
The Frogs shot 49.2 percent from two point range, sinking 30 out of 61 attempts, and 33.3 percent from three point range, converting on six out of 18 attempts. The Frogs also shot 80 percent from the line, sinking 24 out of 30 free throw attempts, a department in which they previously struggled in.
The Frogs out-rebounded the Huskies 62-51 in the contest. TCU will get back to action Saturday afternoon when they host Illinois State at the Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
