The San Francisco 49ers have pegged a former TCU coach and player as their next offensive coordinator, according to an ESPN report.
Curtis Modkins, who was a running back for the Horned Frogs from 1989-1992, will lead the offense for new 49ers head coach Chip Kelly. Modkins had been the running backs coach for the Detroit Lions since 2013. His brother, Jeremy Modkins, is currently a defensive analyst for TCU football.
Modkins started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at TCU in 1995. He was the Frogs’ secondary coach in 1996 and the the tight ends coach in 1997. Modkins also coached at Georgia Tech for six years transitioning to the NFL in 2008 as the running backs coach for the Kansas City Chiefs.
