A cell phone application that allows users to pay for parking spaces by using their credit cards launched last week and has more than 2,000 downloads and 1,000 transactions already in Fort Worth.
The app, called FW Park, also allows users to use Visa Checkout, Parkmobile Wallet, or PayPal in addition to their credit cards. It charges an additional 35 cent convenience fee, according to Tina Dyer, the marketing manager for Parkmobile, LLC.
“Just in the couple of days that we have been launched, to have over 2,000 downloads is pretty good,” said Dyer.
Several locations in Fort Worth including parking spaces in the cultural district and downtown are making it easier for visitors to avoid parking fines with the app.
The Fort Worth community, despite the extra charge, has warmly welcomed the new app.
“I’m willing to pay the extra 35 cents for easy parking,” said Andrew Davis, a FW Park app user. “I rarely carry cash so meters can be totally inaccessible to me.”
Alexandria Larsen, another app user, said the app is very easy to use and convenient while trying to find a parking space.
“It’s so nice not having to worry about finding loose change in the car,” Larsen said. “I can just press a couple buttons on my phone and forget aboutit.”
The app also allows users to opt into a 15 minute warning when their parking meter is to expire so they can choose to add more time if needed.
“We are very excited to be offering this in Fort Worth,” Dyer said.
The app is available for free download on the Apple Store or Google Play.
