The TCU Rifle team won its first-ever Patriot Rifle Conference overall championship Sunday by a slim margin.

The Frogs beat Alaska by three shots, 4,690-4,687.

TCU also won its second consecutive air-rifle championship in a tiebreaker. TCU and Ohio State both finished with a team score of 2,364, but the Frogs had ten more center shots.

Three TCU shooters shot above 590 in the qualifier. Hannah Black shot a 594, finding the center 48 times. Mindy Miles shot a 593 with 47 center shots. Sally Li ended up in 11th with a 590, and Nicole Hankey shot a 587.

Miles and Black both moved into the final. Miles finished with a score of 205.5, beating Alaska’s Luke Johnson by 1.1 points, enough to win the individual championship.  Black shot a 100.6 to finish seventh.

TCU capped off a great weekend by winning both days to capture the conference title.

With the conference championship, TCU improves to 11-0 on the season.

The Frogs travel to the University of Texas at El Paso next weekend in their final match before the postseason begins on Feb. 20.
