The TCU Women’s Basketball hosted Iowa State on Saturday in what would turn out to be a solid victory.
TCU shot 49 percent from the field and made seven three-pointers en route to a 79-69 victory over the Cyclones.
The frogs quickly took a 21-12 lead after the first quarter. Iowa State had some fight left in them and made a 10-0 run in the 3rd quarter, beating TCU by a point.
Senior guard Zahna Medley scored 19 points and two steals that helped the Horned Frogs hold off Iowa State in the late stages of the game.
Medley is getting closer to shattering some of TCU’s records. She needs three more three-pointers to tie her for most in program history and 73 more points to tie Sandora Irvin for most career points at TCU.
Senior Veja Hamilton added 14 points and freshman Jordan Moore added nine points and eight rebounds to assist the Horned Frogs with the win.
Iowa State dropped to 12-12 (4-9 in conference play) and the Horned Frogs improved their season record to 13-11 (5-8 in conference play). Coach Reagan Pebley is now 3-1 against Iowa State during her time at TCU.
Saturday’s game was the Play4Kay game, which supports the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The Frogs wore pink jerseys that are now being auctioned online to support the cause.
The organization is dedicated to raising money for scientific research and assisting those in the fight against cancer.
The Frogs will look to build on this win, when they travel to take on the Kansas Jayhawks in Kansas on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
